William D. (Billy) Pulley of Lawrenceburg, formerly of Waynesboro was born June 27, 1927 in Wayne County, TN the son of the late William Edihue Thomas and Dena Irene Devers Pulley. Mr. Pulley died Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tennessee at the age of 86 Years, 1 Month, 18 Days. He was married to Mable Davis September 4, 1948 and she preceded him March 8, 2012. Formerly Mr. Pulley was a member of the Rotary Club, Volunteer Fire Department, and Waynesboro Jaycees. He was best known for his years of service at the telephone company serving as manager from 1956 until his retirement in 1995.
He is survived by three sons, Robert Pulley of Lawrenceburg, TN, Lewis A. Pulley of Parsons, TN, and Lamar Pulley of Bossier City, LA; two daughters, Laquita Nelson of Giles County, TN and Jane Franks of Leoma, TN, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, a brother, Johnny Pulley of Waynesboro, TN, two sisters, Ruby Donegan and Kathleen Miller both of Waynesboro, TN. also he was preceded in death by a sister, Ailene Clayton.
Services are scheduled for Friday, August 16, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Chapel in Waynesboro with his son Robert Pulley officiating. Burial will follow in the Shields Cemetery in Waynesboro with Shackelford Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 15, 2013 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM and Friday, August 16, 2013 from 8:00 AM until service time at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro.
