William Clarence Robinson – Obituary

The funeral service for William Clarence Robinson, age 89 of Ashland, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Pleasant Hill Methodist Protestant Bible Church with the Reverend John Luckie officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Mr. Robinson passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019 at the Clay County Hospital. A native and life-long resident of Clay County, he was a graduate of Bibb Graves High School. Mr. Robinson had worked for Crown Textile and the Talladega Foundry. He had also been employed by Wellborn Cabinet Company where he was a greatly loved employee and truly enjoyed working there. Mr. Robinson was a long-time attendee of Pleasant Hill Methodist Protestant Bible Church.

He is survived by two daughters: Cindy Ware (Mickey) of Opelika and Cristy Robinson (Wayne) of Montgomery; one son, Jimmy Robinson; six grandchildren: Shaun Maples, Laura Robinson, John Robinson, Andrew Robinson, Matthew “Bubba” Robinson and Haylee Bode; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his parents: Marvin P. Robinson and Lillie Bell Phillips Robinson; his wife, Mildred Robinson; his son, Scott Robinson; three sisters: Oma Ruth Summerlin, Una V. Forbes and Vida Mae Brooks; three brothers: Albert Robinson, M. P. Robinson and Ralph Robinson.

Shaun Maples, John Robinson, Andrew Robinson, Matthew “Bubba” Robinson, Matthew Weathers and Derrick Forbes will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mr. Robinson will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to service time on Thursday.
