William Carol Simpson, age 87, born in Decatur, Alabama October 24, 1928, and raised in Pulaski, Tennessee. He lived his adult life in Decatur. Mr. Simpson died peacefully in Athens Feb. 4, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Poarch) Simpson; granddaughter, Anna Marie Simpson; parents, Willis and Mary Simpson; brothers, Stacy, Willis, Glenn, and David Simpson; sister, Auleen Mooney.
He is survived by sons, Tony (Janiece) and Tim (Jeanne); grandchildren, Leslie Simpson, Christie Eng (Chris), Charlee Moore (Jake), Samantha Duke (Eric), Stephanie Chandler (Keith), Paul Simpson, Kathryn Simpson, and Joel Simpson; great-grandchildren, Blakeleigh, Drake, Liam, Lincoln, Jack, Isaac, and Georgia; sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews
Mr. Simpson served in the Army (1950-1956), was a Korean War veteran, and worked as a Cement Sales Representative for Dixie Cement Company. He was a member and Deacon of Grant Street Church of Christ. He loved playing golf and watching Alabama football.
A Celebration of Life will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016 at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with ministers Alan Watkins and Jere Spurlin officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Paul Simpson, Joel Simpson, Jake Moore, Chris Eng, Keith Chandler, and Eric Duke.
