William C. Pittman, Jr. – Obituary

William C. Pittman, Jr., 94, of Huntsville, passed away Wednesday. Mr. Pittman was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, having served in the Guadalcanal campaign in World War II. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University.

He was retired from Army Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal, recently being inducted into the Army Materiel Command Hall of Fame. He was a former local and state president of Sons of the American Revolution. He was a member at Mayfair Church of Christ.

Mr. Pittman was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Pittman, parents, William C., Sr. and Maude Ella Pittman, sister, Harriet Walker (Gene), sister, Emile Southerland (Eddie), and niece, Peggy Anderson (Ron).

Survivors include his children, Patricia Ready (Jim), Billy (Miriam), and Tom (Judy); grandchildren, Spencer Ready, Will Ready (Haley), Carlin Pittman, Mitchell Pittman, and Jacob Pittman.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 24 at Maple Hill Cemetery with Dr. Gary Bradley officiating. Visitation will follow from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Mayfair Church of Christ.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Wounded Warrior Project, or Mayfair Church of Christ.
