William C. “Buck/Bill” Wells, 84, of Blue Hill Nebraska, died peacefully at his home Thursday, April 12, 2018. Mr. Wells was born August 2, 1933 to P.E. and Maudie Wells in Rockwood, Alabama. He attended school at Rockwood and Russellville, Alabama. He was veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was married to Alice Lane Wells for 64 years. Over the years they made their home in Russellville, Alabama, Gallatin Tennessee, and Blue Hill, Nebraska. He was a maintenance painter retiring from the Tennessee Valley Authority after 30 years of service at the Gallatin and Colbert steam plants. He also drove a school bus for several years in his retirement. He loved the children in his care and enjoyed watching them grow up over the years.

Bill had many hobbies. He was an avid quail and pheasant and turkey hunter. He loved watching and playing golf and making hand crafted walking canes. He and his wife, Alice enjoyed square dancing and attended dance conventions all over the world. Most of all he loved his Lord, his church, and his family.

Mr. Wells is survived by Alice Wells, his wife of 64 years; two sons, Rev. Will Wells (Pam) of College Grove, Tennessee and Timothy Wells (Yuko) of Summerville, South Carolina; two daughters, Teena Wells (Ron) of Boulder Colorado and Laura (Donnie) Pruett of Russellville; two adopted children, Boonie and Peggy Marks, Clay Center, Nebraska; two sisters, Betty Smith, Russellville and Mary Pace, Russellville; nine grandchildren, Jacob and John Wells, Mary Alice and Tai Wells, Daniel Pruett, Amanda Pruett, Damon Forbes, Layla Forshee and Kia Corbet; eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m today, April 20th at the Blue Hill United Methodist Church with Reverend Dan Albers and Russ Dudrey officiating. Military Rites by A.L. Shirley Post No. 176, Blue Hill, Nebraska. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Russellville, Alabama.

Memorials are suggested to Maple Grove Cemetery, Guide Rock, Nebraska. There will be no viewing or visitation as his wishes were to be cremated. Merten-Butler Mortuary, Blue Hill, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements.
