Mr. William Bruce Taylor, 75, of Arab, passed away Friday, July 19, 2018 at Diversicare in Arab.
Mr. Taylor was born March 24, 1943 in Marshall County to Ralph Montgomery Taylor and Princie Lee Terrell Taylor. He was a 1961 graduate of Arab High School; he later graduated from Calhoun Technical School in 1963 and worked in auto body repair for dealerships in Decatur, Hartselle and Guntersville. He worked one year for H.D. Lee Company in Guntersville. He continued his education at Alabama A&M and finished in 1973 and taught at Guntersville High School in the fall of 1973. He was an environmentalist – health inspector for the Alabama Public Health Department for 25 years. He enjoyed socializing at McDonalds with his friends, walking, old cars and watching Alabama Football.
He was a member of Arab First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years: JoAn Black Taylor; his daughter: Celia Taylor Cox; his grandchildren: Erin Cox Chausse and Daniel and Jackson Cox; great grandchildren: Gabriel Chausse and Lillian Chausse; his brother: Earl Taylor; nieces: Teresa Snider and John; Pam Cooper and Tate; great nephews and nieces: Nicholas Snider, Emily Snider, Nathaniel Cooper and Morgan. He was preceded in death by his sisters: Pat Thomas and Brenda McKelvey.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday July 23, 2018 at Arab First United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve West, Rev. Kenny Baskins and Rev. Nicky James, officiating. Burial will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Nicholas Snider, Nathaniel Cooper, Daniel Chausse, Jackson Cox, Wayne Bunch, Bobby Moon, Don Chafin and Franklin Martin.
Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Sunday July 22, 2018 at Arab First United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to Arab First United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
