William Britton November 16, 1924-April 03, 2016 passed away this week leaving a great legacy of life. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 05, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel; with service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Spruce Pine Cemetery. Gene Britton will be officiating.
Mr. Britton was survived by his wife of 69 years, Ouida and six children; Gene (Carole Sue) Britton, Janice (Mac) McAffry, Joyce (Tommy) Wright, James Britton, Cindy (Jim) Parker, and Jennifer Kimbrell. He had 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents, William Ezell Britton and Gussie Ann Johnson; brother, Morris Britton; sisters, Gertrude Townsend, Roxie Britton, Mary Britton, and Opal Ford.
Mr. Britton was very active in the church, community, business, and family. He was owner of Muscle Shoals Mack Sales, Inc. for a number of years, a business that expanded beyond the Shoals. He was involved in several business and community projects and served on Muscle Shoals National Bank, 1St National Bank, Tuscumbia, and Colonial Bank boards through the years.
Mr. Britton was a founding director of Heritage Christian University and served on Mars Hill Bible School Board. He was long time elder and member of Highland Park Church of Christ and Shoals Church of Christ the last couple of years.
Pallbearers are Gerald Wright, Randy Wright, Adam Britton, Zeke Britton, Bart McAffry, Jake Parker, Hollis Clark, and Alphonso Martinez.
