William Briggs “Bill” Pugh – Obituary

William Briggs “Bill” Pugh, 87, of Sheffield, passed away Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015. Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, from 1-2:30 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield, with the Rev. Randy Burbank officiating.

Bill was a native of Sheffield and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sheffield. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. His service in World War II earned him the Valor Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Medal. He was a retired electrician from TVA and a member of the IBEW Local 558 earning his 50 year pin.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Haynes Pugh, parents, Ocie Briggs and Maggie Thompson Pugh, brother, Earl Everett Pugh, and sister, Nancy Pugh Wilson.

Bill is survived by his son, Bennett L. Pugh and wife, Shirley; sister, Grace Winston Darby; and grandchildren, Elizabeth (Betsy) Pugh and Brennan Pugh. He is also survived by brother-in-law, Robert Haynes, wife, Judy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family expresses special thanks to the management and staff of Park Place, Keller Hospital, and Keller Landing for care and comfort in the most recent months.
