William “Billy” David Coggins, 70, of Huntsville, passed away Thursday at Madison Hospital. Billy was born November 5, 1952, in Morgan County to Robert Edward “Shorty” Coggins and Mary Elizabeth Holt Coggins. Billy attended Mayfair Church of Christ. He retired from the Huntsville City School system as a math teacher, basketball coach, and baseball coach. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bobby Coggins. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Coggins; son, Justin Coggins; and brother, Jimmy Coggins, of Decatur. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral will follow in the chapel with Jason Bybee officiating. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
