William “Bill” Michael Ruder was born on February 5, 1946 in East Chicago, IN.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Navy in the 1960’s serving the Atlantic theater. After his service in the Navy, he started his career as a #597 Union pipefitter. He met Barbara, and married June 15, 1974. They shared almost 50 years together and had “the 3 Ruder Angels”, Billy, Jacob and Joey. He loved to spend time taking his boys hunting and fishing. He was a proud Poppie to “the new Ruder Angels”. He was known as a very patient man. He was always willing to help others.

Bill is the loving husband of almost 50 years to Barbara Ruder; devoted father to William Michael Ruder II, Jacob (Marie) Ruder and Joey (Tina) Ruder; proud Poppie to Saylor, Elizabeth, Owen, Jaxson, Addison, Weston, Clayton and Crimsyn Ruder; cherished brother to Jack Ruder, Joannie Sorell, Russell (Ida) Ruder and David (Vickie) Ruder; brother-in-law to Debbie Ruder; fond uncle to many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Ann Ruder and brother, Daniel Ruder.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 1:00-5:00 pm at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home in Crown Point, Indiana, and again from 10:00 am until the time of his funeral at 11:00 am Monday, January 29, 2024 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Duvall officiating.

He will be laid to rest with graveside ceremonies on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 12:00 noon at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, Alabama.
