 Funeral service for William (Bill) H. Childers, 90, will be Friday, June 21, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Eva Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Robinson, Rev. Gary Driver and Rev. Dustin Smith officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. His body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Oden Ridge Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday, June 20, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Eva Baptist Church.

Mr. Childers was born Thursday, January 17, 1929, in Morgan County to James J. Childers and Ferrol Melissa Ford Childers.  He passed into Glory, at his home,surrounded by his family at 11:15 PM.

William, known as “Bill” to his many friends, was employed for over 30 years as a line mechanic at Prestolite and Porter Mills. He and Mozelle,his adoring wife of 66 years, also worked for years on their family farm. He was the oldest member of Eva Baptist Church and served faithfully for over 70 years. William enjoyed being outdoors, He loved camping, traveling, fishing and working his flowers and garden. He was known for his love for the Lord, dedication to his family and a good hard days work in his Liberty overalls.

Bill never met a stranger; loved to talk and spend time with friends and family. He enjoyed putting puzzles together and playing dominoes any time he had the chance. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He loved his family fiercely and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Mozelle Eidson Childers, his parents, and two sisters: Imogene Childers Mosteller and Desmonee Childers Driver.

Three Brothers:
S.D. Childers (Annie), Eva, AL,
Ronald Childers (Brenda) and
Edsel Childers (Sharon), Eva, AL

One Sister:
Lorene Childers Saddler, Eva, AL

Three Grandchildren:
Selina Childers Snider (Will),
Nick Childers (Kelly) and
Amber Newman Baker (Clint)

Six Great Grand Children:
Kelsey Huff,
Keely Childers,
Kensley Childers,
Shelby Snider,
Levi Baker and
Benjamin Baker

Pallbearers will be Nick Childers, Clint Baker, Phillip Eidson, Johnny Persall, Cutter Eidson and Darrel Day.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Johnny Eidson, Will Snider, Levi Baker and Scott Johnson.

In lieu of flowers: Memorial donations may be made to Comfort Care Hospice of Morgan County and Kindred Home Health of Cullman County.
