William Allen Warner, Jr. of Decatur, Alabama, formerly of Portsmouth, Virginia, died March 29, 2015 in Decatur. He was born in Robertsburg, West Virginia, the youngest of five children of Grace Atkinson Warner and William Allen Warner, Sr. He came to Virginia to serve in the Navy during World War II, and met his beloved wife, Virginia (Ginny) Lindauer. They were married June 23, 1945, and shared 68 happy years until her death in January, 2014. Bill had a career in sales, particularly real estate with Ginny as his partner. He served the Portsmouth/Chesapeake Board of Realtors in various capacities, including President of the board, President of Portsmouth/Chesapeake MLS, and was named Realtor of the Year. He was an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church, where he was Chairman of the Administrative Board, Lay Leader and President of the Open Door Class. In 2008, due to Ginny’s failing health, they moved to Decatur, where they became members of Hartselle First United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by two sisters, Woodie Warner Whittington and Goldie Warner Thornton, and two brothers, Zeb Warner and Ray Warner, all of West Virginia. He is survived by his three children, Judy Warner Cocherell of Virginia Beach, Debbie Warner Donohue and husband Jerry of Chattanooga, and Mike Warner and wife Mary Jane of Decatur, five grandchildren, Emily Sineath Boyle and husband Kevin of Atlanta, Liz Sineath McEwan of Virginia Beach, Lindsay Donohue of Chattanooga, Katie Warner Asquith and husband Chris of Chapel Hill, NC and Matt Warner of Raleigh, NC., and three great-grandchildren, Tanner and Tatum Boyle of Atlanta and Lily Virginia Asquith of Chapel Hill. He also had two nieces, their husbands, children and grandchildren in West Virginia.
A memorial service and celebration of the lives of Ginny and Bill will be held in June in Portsmouth, details to be announced at a later date.
