Funeral service for William Allen “Bill” King age 83 of Hartselle will be Sunday, November 26, 2023 at 3:00pm at Hartselle First Methodist Church with Brother Mike Pope, Brother Doug Wells, Brother Barry Dunn and Brother Bobby Ray Halbrooks officiating with burial in the McKendree Methodist Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 1:00pm until 3:00pm on Sunday afternoon at the Church.

Mr. King, who was born July 3, 1940, in Old Hickory, Tennessee to Ralph Allen King and Mamie Haney King, died on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Huntsville Hospital.

Bill retired from the United States Postal Service where he was the Assistant Postmaster in Hartselle. He was an active member of the First Methodist Church where he served as a lay leader, Sunday School teacher, MYF Counselor, Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, the Board of Stewards, and Chairman of the Trustees. He was a member of the Ages and Stages Sunday School Class.

Bill served on the Hartselle City Council from 1968 until 1972, served on the Zoning Board for 35 years and drove a School Bus for Hartselle City Schools for 17 years.

Bill was a skilled wood worker and really enjoyed making walking canes and giving them to family and friends.

He is survived by:

1 Brother:                   Wayne King (Carla)

1 Sister:                      Jane Hall

4 Grandchildren:      Isaac Robinson, Ellen Edwards (Jacob), Wilson King, Maggie Beth King

1 Great-Granddaughter:     Alice Edwards

Isaac Robinson, Wilson King, Jacob Edwards, Michael Halbrooks, Ryan Halbrooks, Jonathan Dove,

Patrick Ray, Scott Parrish, Brandon McBay and Mark Damron will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Mickey Wiggins, Derwin Teichmiller, Larry Long, Tom Guyton, Tommy Raley and Larry Murphree

In lieu of flowers, make memorial contributions to the Hartselle First Methodist Church “Good Samaritan Fund”
