Bobby Ray Ogles died January 15, 2025, at Story Point Assisted Living and Memory Care in
Knoxville, TN. He was born July 25, 1939, in Lawrence County Alabama to Oscar Erskin Ogles and
Viola Mize Ogles. Mr. Ogles was preceded in death by his parents, all six siblings, his wife Barbara
Ogles, and his eldest son Michael Ogles.
He is survived by two sons, Mark Ogles and wife Andrea of Auburn, AL, and Daniel Ogles and wife
Paula of Athens, AL, and his daughter Deborah Taylor, and husband Scott Taylor of Maryville, TN,
and daughter-in-law Nikki Ogles of Athens, AL. Mr. Ogles had 6 grandchildren, Will Ogles and wife
Sara, Drew Ogles and wife Jordan, Matt Taylor, Emma Taylor, Paige Ogles, and Grant Ogles. He
had two great-grandchildren, Abbie Ogles and Andy Ogles, children of Will and Sara Ogles.
He was a graduate of Tanner High School where he played both basketball and football. He was a
veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida and at Sondrestrom Air
Force Base located above the Artic Circle in Greenland.
Mr. Ogles served as a preacher at the Pine Grove Church of Christ near Manchester, KY, at the
Corinth Church of Christ in east Limestone County, AL, and at the Pettusville Church of Christ in
north Limestone County. He served as an elder at the Eastside Church of Christ in Athens, AL.
After a career as a Program Administrator at Space Craft Inc. in Huntsville, AL, Mr. Ogles served as
the Human Resources Director of Freedom Information Systems in Madison, AL, until his
retirement.
In lieu of plants or flowers, consider a donation to the Smoky Mountain Hospice – Knoxville West
who provided care to Mr. Ogles the last few months of his life.
