Funeral services for Rev. William A. “Bill” Smith, age 95, are scheduled for 1 PM, Friday, May 20, 2016 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery. Rev. Smith passed away early Thursday in Parsons. He was born July 7, 1920 in Henderson County to the late Willie and Mary Sparkman Smith. He was retired from the State of Tennessee, Dept. of Human Services, and was a Baptist preacher for over 50 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Parsons, Eastern Star, and had been a Mason for over 50 years. He was an avid dominoes and rook player. Rev. Smith was preceded in death by two wives, Mrs. Rebecca Hatchett Smith and Julia Kilby Smith and one brother, Herman Smith. Survivors include his two sons, Terry Smith (Debbie) and Dennis Smith (Patricia); three grandchildren, Teresa Taylor, Jessica Swafford (Bryan), and Amanda Smith; five step grandchildren, Keith Gooch, Kevin Gooch, Wade Comer, Wendy Hendrix, and Adam Comer; one special niece, Jan Smith Phillips; and several great grandchildren.
