Wiliese Goodwin Cain, went to be with her Lord and Savior June 9, 2021. She was born August 23, 1937 in Belmont, MS. Dementia took over her mind and body at the age of 83. Sam and Wiliese Cain moved to Whitehaven in 1962 where they met the sweetest couple, Pastor Roy and wife, Laverne Westmoreland. They invited them to church at Bethel Baptist where they accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, joined the church and were baptized. They would go on to be members for fifty-nine years where they taught five year old boys Sunday school and were involved in many other activities. Wiliese was a stay at home mom for twenty years before going to work at the Southland Mall in the postal service booth. She worked there for thirty-five years until she retired.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carson and Inez Goodwin of Belmont, MS; step-mom, Mabel Keeton Goodwin of Belmont, and husband, Claudie Lilburn Cain, Jr. “Sam” of Olive Branch, MS. Our fondest and most cherished memory of our mom and dad was their love for one another. Their affection was contagious until the day our dad left this earth. If everyone could experience love like theirs the world would be a better place.
Visitation will be held at Bethel Baptist Church, Walls, MS on Monday, June 14, 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 15, at 11a.m. with Bro. Ron Westmoreland and Bro. John McFarland officiating. A graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. in Dennis, MS at the Lindsey Cemetery with Bro. Josh Westmoreland officiating. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by two children – Carol Taylor of Olive Branch MS and Mark Cain and his wife, Cindy Cain of Collierville, TN; four grandchildren – Holli Taylor, Stephanie, Matthew and Rachel Cain; one new great-grandson- Delcan Cain Taylor; sister-Sara Palmer; niece- Tracey Lewman (Randy Lewman) of Okolona, MS; nephew-Casey Palmer of Tupelo, MS; many precious cousins and a very special caregiver, Maxine, who was diligent in the care she gave to her.
