Wilburn Randy Moses – Obituary

Wilburn Randy Moses, born February 6, 1955 went to meet the Lord August 15, 2014 in his home in Somerville, AL with his beloved wife by his side. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Evela Moses, two sons, Wilburn Randy Moses Jr. of Madison, AL and Brock Moses of Trinity, AL, step daughter, Kim Byrd and step son Richard Byrd of Ocala, FL, step son, Charles Donald McGee, Jr. of Orlando, FL, grand- daughter, Brandy Lee Byrd of Clearwater, FL, great grandson, Noah Deckard of Clearwater, FL, His mother, Mae Moses of Decatur, AL, his brother, Larry Moses of Huntsville, AL, his sister, Sandy Such of Decatur, AL and a host of nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his father William Moses, his sister, Patricia Guntharp and step-daughter, Kathy Marie Dudley. 

In 1993 Randy retired from the U.S. Navy as an E7 Navy Chief after serving 21 years on aircraft carriers and serving as an instructor for the Navy at Villanova University. Randy was fluent in Russian and also served as a Russian linguist during his military career. The Navy filled his life with purpose and meaning, but it was his beloved wife Nancy, who took first place in his heart. Randy was an avid Atlanta, Braves fan as well as a supporter of the Alabama Crimson Tide. He loved animals and raised birds with his wife. His 3 favorite birds, Quigley, Samantha and Joey now reside at Universal Orlando Resort where they are being trained to be in shows. 

A quiet and sometimes misunderstood man, Randy was a beloved and wonderful husband and will be greatly missed. 

Services will be Tuesday August, 19 at Peck Funeral Home, 1600 Hwy 31 SW, Hartselle, AL 35640 
256-773-2541. Viewing to begin at 5:30PM with service commencing at 7:00PM. 
The honorable Reverend Mike Gunn will perform the ceremony with musical offerings by Charles McGee.
