Graveside services for Sgt. Wilburn “Bill” Spivey, age 82 of Cragford, were held on Friday, July 10, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at County Line Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Mark Kytan officiating.
Mr. Spivey passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at his home. A lifelong resident of Clay County, he served in the Army for 9 years and was Vietnam veteran who received the Purple Heart. Bill never met a stranger and he loved everyone. He spent many years working in security and enjoyed gardening and fishing.
He is survived by his daughter, Shirley Rollins of Alexander City; his sister, Evelyn Mitchell; his brother Heflin Junior Spivey, both of Lineville; two grandchildren: Rodney Towler and Pamela Stephens; one great-grandchild, Carter Stephens, all of Cragford; and a host of nieces, nephews and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Heflin and Susie Lee Thrift Spivey; his daughter, Shelby Stephens, his sister, Syble McDaniel; and three brothers: James, Roger and Kenneth Spivey.
Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville is in charge of the arrangements.
