May 3, 2025 – Ikebana Workshop – Tennessee Valley Museum of Art, 511 Water Street,
Tuscumbia. As part of the Kazari: Decorative Arts of Japan series, an Ikebana Workshop will
be held on Saturday, May 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This hands-on event invites
participants to explore the traditional Japanese art of flower arranging. Led by Abraham
Rowe, the workshop will include live demonstrations, discussions on the fundamentals of
Ikebana, and the opportunity to create a personal arrangement. Participants will also
receive tools to continue practicing Ikebana at home. The cost is $125 per person. For more

May 2, 2025 – Colbert County Schools Fun Run – Colbert County Board of Education, 425
US 72 West., Tuscumbia. Colbert County Schools invites families to join the 2025 Fun Run,
a free one-mile family engagement event taking place behind the Central Office at the
Colbert County Board of Education in Tuscumbia. Scheduled for Friday, May 2, the event
kicks off with registration at 4:30 p.m., followed by the Fun Run at 6:00 p.m. and an awards
ceremony at 7:00 p.m. The first 200 participants will receive a free t-shirt, and all attendees
can enjoy snacks, awards, and more. Registration forms will be sent home with students.

May 2- 3, 2025 – Recall LaGrange – LaGrange College Site,1491 LaGrange College Road,
Tuscumbia. Step back in time at Recall LaGrange, a free, family-friendly event hosted by the
LaGrange Living Historical Association on Friday and Saturday, May 2–3, 2025, at LaGrange
College Site Park in Leighton, Alabama. Running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, the event
features living history presentations, reenactments, traditional arts and crafts, music, hay-wagon
and horse-buggy rides, blacksmith demonstrations, food and bake sales, book sales, Pioneer
Village tours, and more. Saturday offers special one-day-only activities, including the Distillery
Raid reenactment at 2 p.m., the First Impression Cemetery Drama from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30
p.m., and Civil War demonstrations with cannon firings by local reenactors. Admission is free,
with donations welcome at the gate to support park preservation. The park is located at 1491
LaGrange College Road, just off Highway 157, eight miles southeast of Muscle Shoals. For

May 3, 2025 – Earth Day Fest – 400 Block, N. Montgomery Avenue, Sheffield. The 14th
annual Shoals Earth Day Fest 2025 will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 3 at the 400 block of
Montgomery Avenue in historic downtown Sheffield. The festival includes live music,
drumming, earth-friendly displays, children’s activities and more. Steve Trash will perform
12-3:30 p.m. at Montgomery Place, 406 N. Montgomery Ave., Sheffield. Event is free. Rain

Tuscumbia. Helen Keller Festival Color Run is a 5K Fun Run and Fundraiser around downtown
Tuscumbia, ending in Spring Park. Participants will be showered with color throughout the
course. At the end, more color fun and food truck treats. This is a family-friendly event. The fun

May 3, 2025 – Story Walk Opening – Spring Park, 1 Spring Park Road, Tuscumbia. The Helen
Keller Public Library is pleased to announce the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting of a Story
Walk in Spring Park, Tuscumbia, on Saturday May 3rd at 10:00 a.m. There will be activities for
children and the entire family can enjoy this new activity in the park. The StoryWalk® Project
was created several years ago in Vermont and has since spread around the world. The story
walk in Spring Park is brought to you by Helen Keller Public Library and a grant from The Daniel

May 10, 2025 – Celtic Fest– Belle Mont Mansion, 1569 Cook Lane , Tuscumbia. The Colbert
County Historical Landmarks Foundation and the staff of Belle Mont Mansion are thrilled to
announce the 4th annual Belle Mont Celtic Fest to be held on May 10, 2025. In 2025, many
beloved favorites will be returning to the Festival, including bands like the Piper Jones Band,
Chambless & Muse, and Alabama Pipes and Drums. Many of our wonderful vendors and food
trucks will also be returning to the Festival, to sell their crafted items in a Celtic theme. We are
excited to be welcoming the Seán Heely Band to headline the Celtic Fest! The Seán Heely
Band has performed all over the world and are based in Washington D.C. They feature
champion fiddle player Seán Heely. Children and parents alike will enjoy our dedicated Kids
Tent, where children can color, blow bubbles, get prizes, and make their own Fairy Houses. A
Highland Cow will also be on site! This year we will also be welcoming the Tennessee Valley
Scottish Society and a few Scottish clans to the festival where they will be providing information

from 10:00 – 4:00, will serve as a free “Museum Day”, with numerous demonstrations,
performances, and programs throughout the day to raise awareness and interest in the Festival.
