COLBERT COUNTY-Colbert County Tourism is excited about the slate of the events for June. The summer season stands to be the best yet. Check out these fun events:
Now – June 28, 2024 – Exhibitions at Tennessee Valley Museum of Art, 511 North Water Street,
Tuscumbia. This month, the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art will host several captivating exhibits and events.
One highlight is the watercolor exhibit by Sharon Miller, a native of Burbank, California, now residing near
Savannah, Tennessee. Her impressionist-style watercolors feature figurative, animal, and landscape subjects,
with many images related to the Beatles. Kerrigan Casey, along with several collaborating artists, is presenting
a thought-provoking exhibit on Capital Punishment and Death Row inmates, encouraging viewers to consider all
sides of the debate. The annual Helen Keller Art Show of Alabama, featuring works by children who are deaf,
blind, or deaf/blind, will be displayed during the Helen Keller Festival at the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art.
Additionally, the association offers various summer camps for children and adult workshops, with details
available at tennesseevalleyarts.org. The artist members' exhibit, ARTWorks, showcasing pieces by the
Tennessee Valley Art Association, will be on view from July 20th to August 17th. More information: 256-383-

May 31 – June 1, 2024 – North Alabama African Heritage Festival, Willie Green Center, 609 S. East St,
Tuscumbia, AL. Discover the beauty of African culture at the annual African Heritage Festival held every first
weekend in June. Enjoy traditional drumming, lively dance demonstrations, and live music featuring rhythm &
blues and gospel choirs. Explore African art, fashion, and crafts, and savor delicious food. The festival also
offers folk storytelling and activities for children, making it a family-friendly celebration of diversity and heritage.

June 1-7, 10-14, 2024 – Ritz Theatre Summer Camps, The Ritz Theatre, 111 W. Third St., Sheffield, AL. The
Ritz Theatre Summer Camp is instructed by Jaleesa Escott and administered by the Tennessee Valley Art
Association. They will learn the basics of stage performance and character development as they spend the
week rehearsing a short stage play, developing characters, creating sets, finding costumes, and learning
blocking. The end of the camp will result in a small production for family and friends to attend. For more

June 7, 2024 – Doctors, Lawyers, and Such with Special Guest Tony Robertson of Iron Horse, The Ritz
Studio. 111 W. Third St., Sheffield, AL. Doctors, Lawyers, & Such is a vocal/string band performing eclectic hits
from the 1970s through today’s contemporary classics. This show is a benefit for the Tennessee Valley Art
Association, which runs the Ritz Theatre and the Tennessee Valley Museum of Art. The Ritz Studio is a small,

June 7, 2024 – Splash Into Summer Movie Night, Muscle Shoals City Hall, 2010 E Avalon Ave, Muscle
Shoals, AL. The City of Muscle Shoals and MSPR have partnered to bring you nights full of family, food trucks,
and fun! Come hang out for a DOUBLE FEATURE for this first movie night where we will show Luca (8:00 PM)

June 7-8, 2024 – Sledgefest, Downtown Leighton, AL. Honoring music legend Percy Sledge, the festival kicks
off on Friday at 6 PM with Amanda Brewer and Soulful Swagger. Saturday, June 8th, is Jimmy Hughes Day,
featuring Studio 502, The Midnighters, The Pine Hill Haints, and Howell Sledge and the Revue. Enjoy food
trucks, artisans, and vendors, and wrap up with a Gospel Afternoon on Sunday at Galilee Missionary Baptist
Church. Sledgefest also includes the Leighton Farmer’s Market, Leighton Museum, and more. Free and open to

June 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, 29, 2024 – The Miracle Worker Play, Helen Keller’s Birthplace – Ivy Green, 300
North Commons West, Tuscumbia, AL. Performed at the outdoor theater on the grounds of the historic Helen
Keller Birthplace, William Gibson’s play The Miracle Worker recalls the childhood of the deaf-blind child, who
became known as “America’s First Lady of Courage”, and her gifted teacher, Anne Sullivan. See the world of
communication open to Helen at the very spot where the miracle took place. The outdoor drama is the longest
consecutively running drama in the state. This annual performance is held on Friday & Saturday evenings from

June 8, 2024 – June Second Saturdays, Downtown Tuscumbia, AL. Join us from 5 – 8 pm for June Second
Saturdays. We’ll have Donuts for Dogs, Battle of the Bands, vendors, music and so much more. All proceeds

June 27-30, 2024 – The Full Moon Players Present Pride and Prejudice, Cypress Moon Studios, 1000

June 27-30, 2024 – Helen Keller Festival, Spring Park, Tuscumbia, AL. Join us for a four-day tribute

exhibits, Keller Kids activities, live music, history programs, tours, and two performances of ‘The
Miracle Worker Play.’ This annual festival takes place during late June (Thursday through Sunday) in

June 26-29, 2024 – Art of the Dish, Belle Mont, . The “Art of the Dish” Antique and Vintage China Display will
be presented at Belle Mont Mansion, 1569 Cook Lane, Tuscumbia, June 26-29, 10:00 – 4:00, each day. The
exhibit is formed from collections by individuals from across the Shoals area and includes China and porcelain
place-settings from the early 1800’s through the mid-19 th Century. The regular museum admission, adult price
of $8.00 (no discounts) will be charged. A special program will be presented on Fri. June 28 and Sat. June 29
by May Ridolphi Eason, founder of Facebook’s Beautiful Table Settings. An advanced ticket ($30) will be
