iceTHE SHOALS-We have a winter Weather Avisory out for the following counties in Northwest Alabama :  Colbert, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, and Morgan Counties.  Here is the advisory from The National Weather Service:

 WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 9 AM CST TUESDAY…

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HUNTSVILLE HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR FREEZING RAIN AND LIGHT SNOW… WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 9 AM CST TUESDAY.

* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED… ALL OF SOUTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE AND NORTHERN ALABAMA EXCEPT CULLMAN… MARSHALL… AND DEKALB COUNTIES.

* ACCUMULATIONS… UP TO A TENTH OF AN INCH OF ICE… WITH A LIGHT DUSTING OF SNOW POSSIBLE BEFORE PRECIPITATION ENDS.

* IMPACTS… AREA ROADWAYS… ESPECIALLY ELEVATED AREAS SUCH AS BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES… WILL LIKELY BECOME SLICK DUE TO THE FREEZING RAIN. EVEN JUST A GLAZE OF ICE ACCUMULATING ON ROADS COULD CREATE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW… SLEET… OR FREEZING RAIN WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES… AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
