Wendy Simmons, 73, passed away peacefully at her home December 7th. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Howard and Byron Foreman. She was born in Opelika and grew up there with her nine siblings. She graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Secondary Education. Wendy lived in Birmingham for nearly four decades until she moved to Decatur in 2015. She worked as the Outreach Director at Mountain Brook Baptist Church then went on to be a Corporate Trainer with McRae’s and then with Regions, helping others through her natural ability to teach and present information in an interesting and memorable way. Wendy loved the beach, birds, and flowers but most importantly she loved her Lord and her family.
She is survived by her two sons, Rick Simmons of Gardendale and David Simmons (Melinda) of Decatur; five grandchildren; three sisters and four brothers; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Wendy’s life with Christ will be Sunday, December 10th at 2 p.m. at Mt. Brook Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Botanical Gardens in Birmingham.
