Wendell Eugene Powers Wendell Eugene Powers, age 86 of Athens, passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Athens-Limestone Hospital. Mr. Powers was born May 7, 1932 in Limestone County to Bob Lee Powers and Bessie Fee Penley Powers.

Services for Mr. Powers are Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m. with Pat Lawrence, Bert Pugh and Jerry Barksdale officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 27, 2018 from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

He is survived by Bert and Lynn Pugh; sister-in-law, Jane Powers; niece, Deborah Cates; nephews, Larry Powers, Jeff Powers and Mike Powers.

Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Frances Adell Brooks; brother, Bobby Powers; sister, Margaret Powers.

Mr. Powers was a County Commissioner for District 4 for 16 years. He was a member of Berea Baptist Church and The American Legion. He was on the Board of Directors for the Alabama Veterans Museum. He was a lifetime member of the Athens-Limestone Economic Development Committee. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and lawn maintenance.

Pallbearers are Larry Powers, Jeff Powers, Joe Pugh, Lee Pugh, Bert Pugh and Mike Powers. Honorary Pallbearer is COL. Ret. Melvin McLemore.

In lieu of flowers please make donation to the Alabama Veterans Museum.
