Welton J. Rankin departed this life on September 4, 2016 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 74 Years, 6 Months, 21 Days. He was born February 14, 1942 in McNairy County the son of the late Gavin W. and Lizzie Florine Williams Rankin. He was united in marriage to Patricia Jean (Pat) Stowell on July 24, 1962. She preceded him in death on July 25, 2012.
Welton was a member of Finger Baptist Church. He loved being with his family and playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. He enjoyed working on small engines. Welton was a retired sewing machine mechanic with Nick-O Sewing in Grand Junction, TN. He previously had worked at Jetrick’s in Selmer.
He is survived by a daughter, Shannon Moore of Corinth, MS; two sons, Darrell Rankin of Bethel Springs, TN, David Rankin and wife Vickie of Bethel Springs, TN; five grandchildren, Jenny Renee Connor, Brittany Crowe, Beth Ann Rankin, Michaela Lynn Tull, Chasity Nicole Smith; eight great grandchildren, Karter, Logan, Preston, Sydney, Kayla, Emma, Ashley, and Lexi; a sister, Gail Lipford of Bethel Springs, TN; a brother, Gary Rankin of Jacks Creek, TN along with a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Rankin was preceded in death by a grandchild, April Smith and a brother, Larry Rankin.
