Mr. Welmer Calvin “W.C.” Whisenant, Jr. of Joppa, Alabama; passed away peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at the age of 80 years.
Mr. Whisenant was born on November 26, 1940 to the late Welmer Calvin and Dorine Drinkard Whisenant. He is finally reunited with the love of his life, Myra Dell Eller Whisenant whom he was married to for 50 years until her passing on May 6, 2009. W.C. was a farmer and carpenter by trade. He loved teaching his son, grandson & nephews how to dress a deer, farm and about country living. W.C. was loved by his family and friends and will be missed by many.
Mr. Whisenant was a member of Lystra Baptist Church.
Mr. Whisenant will be forever remembered by his son, James Calvin Whisenant (fiancée, Tara Burden); grandson, Aubrey Whisenant; sister, Nell Moses; brother, Clarence Earl Whisenant; host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and late wife, Mr. Whisenant is preceded in death by his brother, Willard Ray Whisenant.
Funeral service will take place at the Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel on Thursday – June 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. John Garrison, officiating. Interment will follow services at the Ryan Cemetery.
Pallbearers escorting Mr. Whisenant to his final resting place will include; Aubrey Whisenant, Alton Moses, Dustin Whisenant, Jerry Whitley, Joshua Moses & Jared Moses.
The family will accept friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Thursday beginning at 12:00 pm.
