FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department has issued a statement concerning an ongoing investigation of a death at the Four Seasons Apartments. Police were called at 5:30 PM on Friday, June 22 in response to a welfare check. After arriving they found the body of Christopher Cobb, 23:
“At approximately 5:30p on Friday, June 22, 2018, officers with the Florence Police Department responded to “welfare check” at 2251 Helton Drive, Four Seasons Apartments. Family members contacted police after they were unable to contact Christopher ‘Devan’ Cobb, 23, at his apartment. Officers responded and made entry into the apartment and located Mr. Cobb deceased inside. Detectives responded and a homicide investigation was initiated.
Our officers and detectives have now been on scene over 18 hours and are continuing to process the scene for evidence. Mr. Cobb was transported from the scene by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences and is awaiting autopsy. The manner and cause of death are not being released at this time.
During the course of our investigation it has been determined that Mr. Cobb’s vehicle, a 2008 Suzuki Forenza, dull Black in color, bearing Alabama license plate 41FV985, and having tape over the driver’s side window, has been removed from the scene by an unknown person(s). We ask the public to be on the lookout for this vehicle. If someone sees this vehicle we ask that you contact police immediately.
This investigation is still in its preliminary stages, but our goal is to identify those responsible for Mr. Cobb’s death and bring them forward to answer for their crimes. Mr. Cobb’s family deserves closure in this case and we ask anyone with information about this case to contact the Florence Police Department at 256-768-2728.
