Derrick James Welch – Charges with assault 1st degree
TUSCUMBIA – From Colbert County Sheriff, Ronnie May:
“Derrick James Welch, age 22, of 10420 White Pike, Cherokee, Al has been charged with Assault 1st degree with a $10,000 bond. subject still in jail. Victim is still in Huntsville Hospital in guarded condition.”
And that’s the latest word on a shooting incident late Sunday night (September 1) in Cherokee. Nobody died, but the apparent domestic shooting sent a 28 year old man to Huntsville Hospital suffering from a shotgun-shooting. The man’s girlfriend, Welch’s sister was also hit by pellets from the .410 calibre weapon, but was treated at the scene and did not have to be hospitalized. The shooting took place at the White Pike residence.
