TONIGHT AS A VERY COLD ARCTIC AIRMASS SPREADS INTO THE REGION.
PRECIPITATION ASSOCIATED WITH ANOTHER DISTURBANCE FROM THE SOUTHWEST
WILL BEGIN AS SNOW EARLY MONDAY MORNING…BEFORE TRANSITIONING TO A
MIX OF RAIN AND FREEZING RAIN BY MONDAY EVENING….WIND CHILL ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 9 AM CST SUNDAY…

A WINTER STORM WATCH HAS ALSO BEEN ISSUED. THIS WINTER STORM
WATCH IS IN EFFECT FROM LATE SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH LATE MONDAY
NIGHT.
* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED…ALL COUNTIES IN NORTHERN ALABAMA AND
SOUTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE. WIND CHILL ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 3
AM TO 9 AM CST SUNDAY. WINTER STORM WATCH IS IN EFFECT FROM LATE
SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH LATE MONDAY NIGHT.
* ACCUMULATIONS…SNOW ACCUMULATIONS IN THE 2.5 TO 4 INCH
RANGE…WITH HIGHEST AMOUNTS ACROSS NORTHWEST ALABAMA.
* WIND CHILL VALUES…WIND CHILLS WILL FALL TO AROUND ZERO FOR
LOCATIONS SOUTH OF THE TENNESSEE RIVER AND WEST OF INTERSTATE 65
AND TO BETWEEN ZERO AND 10 BELOW ZERO FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE
AREA.
* OTHER HAZARDS…ACCUMULATIONS OF SLEET AND LIGHT FREEZING RAIN ARE
EXPECTED IN ADDITION TO THE SNOW. FREEZING RAIN ACCUMULATIONS WILL
GENERALLY BE BETWEEN 0.1 AND 0.3 INCHES AND HIGHEST TO THE SOUTH OF
THE TENNESSEE RIVER AND EAST OF INTERSTATE 65.
* IMPACTS…TRAVEL WILL LIKELY BE SEVERELY IMPACTED BY THIS WINTER
STORM.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL
COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROST BITE
AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. IF YOU MUST
VENTURE OUTDOORS…MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND GLOVES.
A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT
SNOW…SLEET…OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL. CONTINUE
