Funeral service for Wayne Widener, 81, of Decatur, was Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rich Thompson officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Kent-Forest Lawn Cemetary in Panama City, Florida. Mr. Widener died on March 23, 2013 in Decatur. He was born on December 11, 1931 in Cleveland, Oklahoma, to the late Lizzie Evelyn Maxwell and Preston Robert Widener. He retired as a Contracts Executive from Boeing and was a Lead Boeing Negotiator for Space Station Freedom Contract. He was an expert golfer, gardener, and fishing enthusiast. He was a past President for Boeing Wichita Employees Credit Union, a past President Boeing Management Assoication-Wichita, Past State Board Member-Boys and Girls Club of Alabama, and a past Board Member of the Boys and Girls Club of Decatur. He served in the Kansas National Guard.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Luanne; daughter, Peri Widener; two sisters, Patsy Sue Rader (Wayne) and Billie Lou LaTourette (Ken).
Pallbearers were Gil Crane, Lloyd Nix, Malcolm Pruitt, Dr. John Irle, George Sloan, Chuck Duez, Marv Wood, and Tommy Dryer.
