Wayne Elvin Edge, 76, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at his home. He was born October 4, 1949, in Eupora, MS., to Byron Elvin and Mary Magdeline Parker Edge. Wayne was a 1969 graduate of Mooreville High School where he played football for the Troopers. After attending IJC on a football scholarship, he began a long career in sales at the Wright Company and later co-owner of Blue Jay Muffler in Fulton. In the mid-80s he partnered with his brother, Vaudry, opening Edge Horse & Tack Store where he worked until retiring earlier this year. Wayne loved shooting the breeze with his customers and many became lifelong friends. He believed you don’t have anything if you don’t have friends. He was a “mule trader” at heart and loved making a good trade. He was an honest man and the many joyous times he had in life were spent with his family & friends. In his younger years he enjoyed traveling with his son, Tim, to countless Little Breeches Rodeos and High School Rodeos. An avid team roper, Wayne headed while his son heeled. For his daughter Dawn, he was the ever-present voice of home, family, and grounding. Both mischievous by nature, their bond stretched across time and space.
In his later years he enjoyed joy riding with his family, reminiscing about the good ole days and supporting his sweet, treasured granddaughter, Sélah Rose, in her many endeavors. He was a member at Morning View Baptist Church where he enjoyed listening to preaching and fellowshipping in his Sunday School Class. Married to his one love, Jennie, for over 51 years, they enjoyed trail riding and tending to all the animals on the farm where they raised their family.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 20, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. David Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the Union Grove Cemetery near Mooreville.
