Waymon R. Hornsby – Obituary

Waymon R. Hornsby 87 of Arab Alabama died on Tuesday – May 24, 2016 at Marshall Medical Center North.
He was born on April 25, 1929 in Marshall County Alabama to Simon Artis Hornsby and Grace Hill Hornsby. He was a graduate of Arab High School. And was a former member of the Alabama National Guard. Mr. Hornsby was a cattle farmer, he also served two terms as Marshall County Commissioner of District 1 from 1967-1975. He was a member of the Cattlemen’s Association and a member of the Arab Masonic Lodge #663.
Mr. Hornsby was a member of Old Brashiers Chapel United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years: Mabel Lee Shirley Hornsby; two sons: Rudy L. Hornsby (Linda); Ben Hornsby (Pam); grandchildren: Megan Elise Hornsby, Leigh-Anna Franks (Jaron); great grandchild: Coen Ridge Franks; one brother: Ralph Hornsby (Trisha); four sisters: Wilma Ruth Moorer, Sara Martin (Doug), Martha Head, Katherine Farris (Terry). He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon Artis and Grace Hill Hornsby and a brother Alfred Hornsby.
A Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday – May 27, 2016 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Doug Martin officiating. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Visitation will be 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Friday – May 27, 2016 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
