
Waylon was born in Brick Church, TN on May 31, 1929 to Carl and Vivian Gordon Denton. He was a heavy equipment operator, loved eating good food at The Little General Store with his buddies where he was fondly known as “The Mayor of Sumac”. Waylon was a Korean War Veteran, who also was an avid hunter of deer, squirrel, rabbit, and coons. He loved reading his Bible and was a member of New Zion Baptist Church. Waylon is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 53 years Maudie Pratt Denton; daughter in law Patricia Denton; son in law Mike Parsley.
Visitation will be 11-2 on Saturday January 25, 2025 at Carr and Erwin Funeral Home with Funeral Service following at 2pm. Interment will be in New Zion Cemetery.
Waylon is survived by his son Glenn Denton of Lebanon; daughters Betty Guthrie (Tom) of Pulaski, and Belinda Garner (Steve) of Pulaski; grandchildren Sherian Baird (Jason), Jason Guthrie (Tonya), Angela Messer (Barry), Amy Eslick (Bubba), Alicia Davis (Jimmy), Janet Davidson (Woody); 14 great grandchildren; his special friends at The Little General Store; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
