Warren Hovater Rutland – Obituary

Warren-Rutland-1431688269Warren Hovater Rutland, age 66 of Cherokee, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2015. His visitation will be Tuesday, May 19, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. The funeral service will be Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with David Conley officiating. Interment will be in Barton Cemetery.

Warren was a native of the Red Rock community in Colbert County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve 883rd Airborne and retired from Occidental Chemical after 35 years of service. He was a member of Red Rock Church of Christ. Warren was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed hunting, golfing, and watching Auburn football. He was very involved in his children’s lives, and his grandchildren were the joys of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Laverne Rutland.

Warren is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Patricia Moody Rutland; son, Warren Blake Rutland and wife Reagan; daughters, Andrea Rutland Sarapin and husband Brian and Paige Rutland McCauley and husband Mike; grandchildren, Jackson and Harper Sarapin, Lea, Noah and Levi McCauley, and Daniel, Dalton and Brantley Rutland; brothers, Ralph W. Rutland and wife Veda, and Gerald V. Rutland and wife, Elaine; sisters-in-law, Rita George and husband Eddie and Toni Richardson and husband Mark; and numerous very special nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Doug Brown, Johnny Walker, Charles Hovater, Dwight Reid, Richard Phillips, Darryl Rutland, Ben Rutland, Mark Rutland, and Geoffery Rutland will serve as pallbearers.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Hart and his staff, Shoals Hospital, Gentiva Hospice, and to express a very special thank you to Andrea Talley and Aimee Hardesty for their tender care.
