Warren G. Davis, 91, of Florence, passed away February 21, 2016. He was born May 10, 1924 in Appleton, Tenn. His last year of high school was at Lexington and then he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served nearly three years in the South Pacific, Saipan, the Phillipines, Okinawa, and on the Occupation of Japan. He was retired from T.V.A. as a crane operator; was a volunteer fireman for the Petersville Fire Department for over 20 years; overseer for the Petersville Community Center, and was an active member of Petersville Church of Christ. He married Claudia May (Foxx) Davis in 1947. He was a loving, humble, compassionate man always helping those in need, an example for us all. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be today, Tuesday, February 23, 2016 from 6-9 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Petersville Church of Christ. Officiating will be Sonny Owens and Adam Richardson. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park with military funeral honors. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia Foxx Davis; four brothers, and two sisters.
He is survived by his son, Ricky Davis; daughter, Judy Wood both of Florence; sister, Gladys Pettus of Lexington; grandchildren, Wade Wood of Greenhill, and Trevor Wood of Killen; great-grandchildren, Holli Grace, Ticer, Emily, and Bo Wood.
Active pallbearers will be: Joe Maxwell, Dustin Culberson, Wade Strait, Patrick Mitchell, Wade Wood, and Trevor Wood.
The founders of Underwood-Petersville Community Center and Underwood Petersville Fire Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.
