THE SHOALS – The Florence Police Department wants to let Shoals residents know about a scam being conducted in our area.
Here is what they have to say:
SCAM ALERT: We have been notified that there is currently a scam active in our community involving a telephone caller stating they are with the Florence Fire Department, namely that they are Fire Chief Charlie Cochran, and asking for donations for the Florence Fire Department. THIS IS A SCAM. The FFD is NOT calling and asking for donations by phone and the caller is not Chief Cochran. Investigators are currently tracing the telephone numbers being used to assist in our criminal investigation. Please share and advise your friends and family of this scam.
