Wanda Sue Smith, age 84 of Estill Springs, passed away peacefully at her home on October 12, 2021. She was born February 14, 1937 in Whitwell, Tennessee to the late Robert and Bess Reeves and lived in Marion County until she graduated from high school. As a young adult, she moved to Hamilton County. After a few moves to different states, Sue moved to Franklin County, first to Winchester and later to Estill Springs, where she resided until her death. From the time she moved to Winchester until her retirement, Sue worked for Wilton’s. Sue was preceded in death by her husband, William Boyd Smith. She is survived by her sister, Jean (George) Thomas of Dalton, Georgia; children, Art (Margaret) Kilgore of Whitwell, and Terri (David) Bain of Trenton, Georgia; grandchildren, Channing (Kate) Kilgore of Murfreesboro, Marissa (Todd) Davis of Crossroads, Houston Kilgore of Whitwell, Carie Kilgore (Mark Brown) of Estill Springs, and Daniel Bain of Tucson, Arizona; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Zarah, Aletheia, and Amelia; and many in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Sue was known to all for her fun-loving personality and quick wit. She loved canning, fishing, researching family genealogy, and patting her foot to the Borderline Band music. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 15, 2021 in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in her honor to the genealogy branch of the Franklin County Library, c/o Genealogy Department, 105 South Porter Street, Winchester, TN 37398.
