Wanda Sue Dillard Craig Wanda Sue Dillard Craig, born February 10, 1944, entered her heavenly home on March 15, 2025. Sue as she was known was born in San Diego, CA during the height of World War II. Her parents, Lloyd George Dillard and Doris Nell Compton were living there working in the military supply companies.

She grew up on the farm in southern Cullman County learning the meaning of hard work. She attended Hanceville High School and graduated on June 4, 1962. Her class was known as the “Class of 62”. She attended Florence State College, now UNA, for one year, came home, got a job, and married. Soon she became a stay-at-home mother to her two beautiful daughters, Kristi Suzanne Wren Creel and Kara Shae Wren Myers. She later returned to college attending Wallace State and Athens State obtaining a BS in Elementary Education, Alabama A&M obtaining a master’s degree in Elementary Education, UAB obtaining Administrative Leadership Certification and finally National Board Certification. She worked with Cullman County Schools for 35 years as an educator. Her love was to see children learn to read.

She attended Damascus Missionary Baptist Church for many years until her health prevented her from attending. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior in 1957, at the age of 13. She served in many capacities in the church.

Preceded in death by her parents Lloyd George Dillard and Doris Nell Compton Dillard. She is survived by her daughters, Kristi Wren Creel (Clint) and Kara Wren Myers (Delane); the grandchildren that named her Neena, Warren Cole Creel, Lane Brooks Myers, Katherine Olivia (Katie) Creel, and Lillian Grace (Lilli) Myers; her precious great grandchild, Finn Wesley Creel; her brother, Allan Dillard (Linda) and sister, Linda Allen (Don); nephews, Brandon Dillard (Kimberly) and Adam Dillard; nieces, Cindy Pearson (Shan), Jennifer Smith (Darrin) and Tara Kelly; great nephews and nieces, Austin, Ava and Aiden Smith, Anna (Costa) and Charlie Marinakis, Katie Smith, Leah Bailey, Truett Williams, Connor Dillard, Reed Dillard and Carson Kelly.

Her Home going service is at Hanceville Funeral Home on Saturday, March 22nd at 1:00 pm, with visitation from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Burial is at Cullman City Cemetery following the service. Reverend Dale Moore and Christopher Dotson will do her service. Valerie Mays Dotson and Marlene Edwards will do the music. Pallbearers are Warren Creel, Lane Myers, Brandon Dillard, Adam Dillard, Austin Smith, Connor Dillard, Reed Dillard and Carson Kelly, honorary.

Don’t be sad she is gone, but happy she was a part of your life for a while.
