Wanda Jean Bates, age 71, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2024, at Cullman Health & Rehab Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam & Rachel (Turner) Bates; brothers, Jimmy, Don, and Jerry Bates; sisters, Jane Johnson, Brenda Davis; niece, Leslie Bates; and nephews, Frank and Jerry Bates.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her brothers, George Bates (wife, Margaret), Sam Bates; nieces, Dena Parrish, Tammy Balderas, Lisa McClanahan, Jana Johnson, Tina Sanders, Samantha Bates; and nephews, Charles Bates, John Bates, Brian Bates, Nick Bates, Donnie Bates, Jeremy Bates, Mike Johnson, and Tim Johnson.
The visitation will be 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville. The service will follow at 12:00 noon in the chapel with Bro. Brian Turbyfill officiating the service. The burial will be at Copeland Cemetery in Athens.
The pallbearers will be Jeff Wicks, Greg Jeffries, Lowell Jeffries, Letroy Jeffries, Mike Johnson, and Tim Johnson.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to her nurse, Mrs. Riley Simmons, and the nurses and staff of Cullman Health & Rehab for your love and care of our sister and aunt.
