Wanda “Carolyn” Brooks Haynes, 76, passed away peacefully on June 30th, 2026. Born on August 13th, 1949, Carolyn was the cherished daughter of the late Leo Brooks and Mary Ellen Putman Brooks.
Carolyn was a faithful member of Sardis Springs Baptist Church and a proud graduate of East Limestone High School, Class of 1967. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother whose greatest joy in life was her family. Her kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for those around her will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Jessie “Lynn” Haynes; two sons, Blake Haynes (Ginger) of Athens, Alabama, and Anthony Haynes (Elizabeth) of Athens, Alabama; and her treasured granddaughter, Emma Haynes.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her brothers, Dennis Brooks and Ricky Brooks.
Visitation will be held on July 6th, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Sardis Springs Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Bro. Tim Keenum and Bro. Jack Bailey officiating. Carolyn will be laid to rest in Sardis Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mitch Haynes, Glenn Duggar, Kenneth Willard, Anthony Zierbel, Terry Adams, and Joe Bailey.
Carolyn’s legacy of faith, love, and dedication to her family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
