Wanda Aurelia Cottongin, 92 of Decatur, AL passed away
peacefully listening to the song, “I Speak Jesus”, Monday,
December 16, 2024, at Huntsville Hospital.
She was born March 12, 1932, in Illinois to Eva Mae and Martin
Stitcherling. .
She is survived by her sons, Jerry Cottongin Sr.,(wife EuGenia)
and Tommy Cottongin; granddaughters Jennifer Hope George
(husband Keith), Connie Cottongin, Rebecca Anderson (husband
Jacob); Grandson, Thomas Cottongin (wife Sylvia). Great
Grandchildren, Thomas Michael Cottongin, Bryanna Fagan
(Chris), Dahlia Allen, Alston George, (Samantha), Zac Free,
(Sloan), Asher Morgan, Christian Crabb, Aiden Crabb, and Colten
Clark, 6 great great grandchildren, Elias, Jared, Aubree, Bradley,
Stella, Miles, and Colter. And by her former daughter in law,
Victoria P. Cottongin as well as a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins, and friends who loved her dearly.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, her sisters, Arlene
Burden & Doreen Hames; her grandson, JJ Cottongin and her
great grandson, Donald Brent Free who was born sleeping, and
several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Ridout’s Brown-Service Funeral Home.

Family will welcome guests at 11:30
with service beginning at 1pm. Services will be officiated by her
great grandson, Zac Free.
Pallbearer will be Caine Jones, Keith George, Billy Hames, Colten
Clark, Chris Fagan, and John Owen.
