Mr. Walter Lee Wiggins, 79, formerly of Millington, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union County, MS, surrounded by his loving family.
A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Millington Church of Christ, 7320 Raleigh Millington Road, Millington, TN 38053. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery, 1011-1001 County Road 41, Etta, MS 38627, to honor his wishes of being laid to rest beside his mother.
Mr. Wiggins was born on January 9, 1946, in Pontotoc County, MS, to the late Hilery Lee and Myrtis Williams Wiggins. He was a retired truck driver with JNJ Express. He embraced life fully and found his greatest joy in loving the Lord, his family, fur babies, friends, and sharing his faith.
He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, cousin and friend. He was a member of Millington Church of Christ. He welcomed visitors, not only to share in fellowship, but also to ask them, first and foremost, about their relationship with the Lord. That was always what mattered most to him.
He loved people deeply, and in return, was deeply loved by all who knew him. His family rests in thankfulness for the hope, the promise, and the assurance given to those who are in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). For whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Truly, nothing shall separate us from the love of God, not even death (Romans 8:38-39).
Mr. Wiggins’ memory will forever be cherished by his two nieces, nephew, and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of thirty-two years, Patricia, his son, Walter Lee Wiggins II, his stepson, Carl Sloan, and his sister, Melva Lee.
The Wiggins family would also like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Magnolia Place in New Albany, MS, for the exceptional care they provided to Mr. Wiggins.
