Walter L. (Shorty) Pittman, 84 of Ardmore, Alabama passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Athens Rehab and Senior Center in Athens, Alabama.
He was born Sunday, August 4, 1929 in Elkmont, Alabama, he was the son of the late George Brack Pittman and the late Trudell Moore Pittman. He was raised here in the Ardmore area moved to Indiana for 20 years, came back to Ardmore about 26 years ago. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the U.S.S. Ajax destoryer in the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by a daughter, Debbie Gipson of Charlestown, IN, brother, John B. (Margie) Pittman of Leighton, AL, sister, Lurleen Tetroault of Montgomery, AL, grandson, Dillon Davis, special friend, Judy Pylant of Ardmore, AL, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Kathy Davis, brother, Melvin Pittman, sister, Betty Beall, niece, Bridgett Whitt.
A Funeral service will be at 12:00 PM on Monday, November 25, 2013 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, with Gary Hargrove officiating burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Ardmore, AL.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Monday, November 25, 2013, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, 27186 Main Street, Ardmore, Alabama.
