Walter George Sims, age 84, of Leighton, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014.
His graveside service will be today, 2 p.m., in Fairview Cemetery, Double Springs, with the Rev. Jeff Flemming officiating.
Mr. Sims was a native of Double Springs, Alabama and was an active member of the NRA.
He was preceded in death by his son, Phillip Sims.
Survivors include his wife, Vada Sims; sons, Steve Sims and Martin Sims; daughters, Shannon Sims Levio, Ann Emerson and husband, Tommy, and Frankie Petree and husband, Bill; sister, Rose Ellen Stanberry and husband, Jack; grandchildren, Cecil Nesbitt and wife, Bobbie, Emily McKleroy and husband Michael, and Anna Nesbitt; and great-grandchildren, Addison Nesbitt and Deklan McKleroy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
