Walter Eugene Gravitt, age 83, of Haleyville, Al passed away Monday, October 1, 2012 at his residence. He was a Baptist, retired from the United States Air Force, served during the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Haleyville Masonic Lodge #464. His visitation will be Thursday October 4, 2012 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Haleyville. Funeral service will be Friday October 5, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Bro. Ronnie Melvin officiating, and Michael Cole speaking at the cemetery, Burial will follow in Littleville Cemetery with full military honors. Walter is survived by his wife, ,Mary Sue Gravitt; children, Dianne Raper, Steve Dye, Teresa McAdams, Tony Dye, Tim Dye, Peggy House, Pam Jackson and Sonny Gravitt; grandchildren, Angela, Michelle, Christopher, Sha, Tonya, Mandy, Heather, Amanda, Lee, Annie, Josh, Sam, Destin, Tristen, Brandy, Brent, Kesha, Lacy, Daniel and Hunter; 37 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cisciso and Ida Gravitt; children, Donna Jean Fitzgerald, Gwen McDougal and Debra Kay Helton; grandson, Stevie; sisters and brothers, Ann, Blossom, Fannie, Cleburn, J.Q., Odell, Junior, Marion and Hubert.
