Walter David Brooks, Jr. age 96 of Athens, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Tut Fann Veterans Nursing Home. Mr. Brooks was born June 14, 1921 in Limestone County, AL to Walter David Brooks, Sr. and Etta Pearl White Brooks.
Services will be Saturday, March 24, 2018 12:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Jimmy Woodroof and Bill Irby officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery.
Mr. Brooks was a member of West Hobbs Street Church of Christ. He was a World War II Veteran. He was a devoted Christian husband, father and grandfather and loved going to sports events.
Preceded in death by his wife, of 64 years, Katherine L. Brooks.
Survived by one daughter, Rita Skipworth and husband, Jimmy of Athens; one grandchild, Jim Whitney Skipworth and wife Daylee of Athens; many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Whitney Skipworth, Cliff Smith, Rene Hood, Sam Gates, Justin Burgreen and Tim McNeil.
