Walter Dale Harper went to live with Jesus Saturday, October 10, 2015. A memorial service will be held October 24, 2015 at 2:30 at Shedd Cemetery in Trimble, Alabama.
Dale was born June 5, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan to parents, William E. ‘Bill’ and Pearlie Opaline ‘Oppie’ Burks Harper. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Daniel Keith Harper; his niece, Pamela Paridee; his father-in-law, Ernie J. McClendon.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Rita McClendon Johnson Harper; four sons, Jared E. (Summer) Johnson, Kelly J. (Sara) Johnson, James S. and Johnathan M. (Alisha) Harper; daughter, Kristine D. Harper; fourteen grandchildren, Angel, Kristen, Logan, Antonio, Aryana, Jazmin, Lily, Lucas, Autumn, Lauren, Rachel, Aaron, Laney and Lee; a sister, Patsey ‘Pat’ Paridee; a brother, Mark E. (Fran) Harper; nieces, Tina Boyd and Sara Harper; mother-in-law, Peggy Still McClendon and numerous family and friends and best friend and companion ‘Prissy Belle’.
Dale learned the transportation business from the ground up from his Uncle Al. He drove 18 wheelers for 15 years, dispatched trucks and was a terminal manager in Alabama, South Carolina and North Carolina. He loved picking at family and friends. If he liked you, he made sure you knew it. Dale will be greatly missed.
