Walter Alvie Jones, 84, resident of Ripley, passed away Monday, May 6, 2024, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, TN.

Funeral Services honoring the life of Mr. Alvie will be at 1 PM Wednesday May 8, 2024, in the Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home, with Bro. Darren Owens officiating. Visitation will be from 11 AM until service time on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, in the Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery.

Born April 12, 1940, in Benton County, Mr. Jones is the son of the late Palmer and Dorothy McDow Jones. He received his education from Shady Grove School, was a member of the Mississippi National Guard and was a mechanic at Palmer Jones Auto Service for 60 years.

A member of Pine Hill Baptist Church, Mr. Alvie’s favorite pastimes included old cars, which he loved to restore, he was an avid World War II buff, and enjoyed trips to First Monday.

Those left to cherish his memories include two sisters, Nilda Holyfield of Fairbank, AK, and Barbara Morgan of Shelbyville, TN.

Pallbearers will be Dee Cook, Matt Inman, Kerry Kassee, Larry Norton, James Turner and John Turner.

He is also preceded in death by his wife, Oleta Norton Jones and one brother James Edward “Jimmy” Jones.
