Wallace Akio Watanabe – Obituary

Mr. Wallace Akio Watanabe 82, of Huntsville, AL passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019. Mr. Watanabe was born in Puunene, Maui, Hawaii to Yoshiharu and Yoshino Watanabe on May 1, 1936. He is a graduate of The University of Hawaii, where he obtained a degree in Civil Engineering. He is a Veteran of The United States Army.  He spent many of his years employed by the Corps of Engineers and as an explosives and safety expert for The United States Army.

He is survived by his wife Mrs. Evelyn Maureen Watanabe, Son  Kaz Watanabe (Kristen) (Atlanta, GA), Daughter Nancye Delbridge (Robbie) (Ralph, AL),  Grandchildren; Kristle O’Neil (Corey) (Huntsville, AL), Corey Hinshaw (Huntsville), Joseph Pierce (Tabitha) (Tuscaloosa, Al), Bailey Watanabe (Auburn, Al), Vadie Watanabe (Atlanta, GA), Brandi Burnett (Chad), Chase Delbridge (Jennifer), Great Grandchildren; Draven Hinshaw, Ensley O’Neil, Jaxon Hinshaw, Emilee Pierce, Hazel Pierce, Megan Burnett, Chasedy Burnett, Hailey Acker, Jayden Taylor, Maggie Delbridge, Lily Delbridge, Brothers; Jim Watanabe (Helene) (Oahu Hawaii), Al Watanabe (Pat) (Seattle, Washington), Fred Watanabe (Kathy) (Portland, Oregon), and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to The National Kidney Foundation.
