Wade E. Skidmore, 86 of Union Grove Alabama, died Tuesday November 2, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Skidmore was born February 17, 1930 in Jackson County to Elmer Alton Skidmore and Marie Hartline Skidmore. He was a long time cattle and poultry farmer. Mr. Skidmore was a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was married to the former Nell Burden for 63 years. He held numerous farmer leadership roles in various farm related organizations and was a Scout Master with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.
He was a member of Mt. Oak United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Nell Burden Skidmore; his children: David and Janet Skidmore and Elizabeth and Joe O’Donnell; grandchildren: Sarah O’Donnell Self, Joshua O’Donnell, Anna O’Donnell, Katie O’Donnell, Will Dillard, Melissa Dillard and Mary Skidmore; great grandchildren: Gabriel and Madeline; sisters and brothers-in-law Jo and Bob Fox and Jean and David Webb and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday November 5, 2016 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Rev. Perry Albritten, Rev. Steve West and Dr. Clint Landry, officiating. Burial will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be David Skidmore, Will Dillard, Joe O’Donnell, Joshua O’Donnell, Ruben Barboza Avolos, Ty King, Ken Rees and Gary Fox.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday November 4, 2016 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
