W. Ray Stricklin – Obituary

Dr. W. Ray Stricklin was born in Hardin County, Tennessee on April 17, 1946, the son of Dorthea Emily Reynolds Stricklin and the late James Riley Stricklin. On July 16, 2011, he was united in marriage to Dr. Pamela I. Clark, who survives. Dr. Stricklin departed this life on September 5, 2018, at the age of 72 years, 4 months, and 19 days.

Dr. Stricklin served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the Metropolitan Memorial United Methodist Church in Washington, D.C. After living in Hardin County, Tennessee, he moved to College Park, Maryland, where he lived for 37 years and worked as a professor at the University of Maryland. He spent the last year of his life in Munfordville, Kentucky. Some of his favorite hobbies were working on the farm, building LEGOs, roaming war history, and reading.

In addition to his wife and mother, Dr. Stricklin is survived by his daughter, Sarah L. Koelsch and husband Robert of Lake Bluff, Illinois; brothers, Don Reynolds Stricklin and James Mac Stricklin, both of Savannah, Tennessee; sisters, Elaine Raines and husband Bob of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Annette Williams and husband Keith of Paducah, Kentucky; and grandchildren, Anna Dorthea Koelsch, Mary Dona Marjorie Koelsch, and Robert William Fletcher Koelsch.

Along with his father, Dr. Stricklin was preceded in death by his brother, Kim Stricklin.
